Why Learn Guitar With Me
I began my professional career in 2003 when I was awarded Guitarist Magazine’s ‘Acoustic Guitarist of the Year’. I was the acoustic guitar columnist for Guitar Techniques magazine from 2004 until its closure in 2024. Today I am a columnist for Guitar World and have written 14 Amazon bestselling guitar method books. My pieces are featured in the Rock School Grades and the London College of Music. As a composer I have had music featured on Netflix, BBC, Channel 4, Amazon Prime and many more.
I have been teaching guitar since 2001, both privately and in higher education. I was Head of Guitar at the British Institute of Modern Music (BIMM) from 2008 until 2023. I have also taught masterclasses across the world and have written exam pieces that students regularly study and perform.
No matter the level, I aim to make my lessons engaging, relaxed and fun. I encourage questions and always take the lesson at the student’s pace to ensure proper learning is taking place. From teaching in higher education, I am aware of the various learning styles and therefore can tailor content delivery to the student’s own style of learning.
