Well, after trying about 30 high end acoustic guitars I’m pleased to say that I have added a Froggy Bottom model M acoustic guitar to the collection. This is a Grand Concert size intstrument with a beautiful Adirondack spruce top which reacts unlike anything else I’ve played before – the Adirondack top gives you an extra 15 per cent when you dig in and this guitar is loud! Thanks to my friends at The North American Guitar who have the good sense to bring these beauties into the UK.
I’ll be using this for some upcoming projects and the recording of my next CD over Summer (studio time booked!) but for now here’s some gospel for you, this one will feature in my Guitar Techniques column in a few issues time.

I am proud to announce that I will be hosting the Advanced Fingerstyle Course at this year’s International Guitar Festival in Bath, UK.
I will be taking students through a wide variety of fingerstyle techniques and repertoire, including Celtic styles and arrangements from my new book The Tradition, the early American Blues style of Blind Blake and Robert Johnson and the famous ‘boom chick’ sound of Chet Atkins, Tommy Emmanuel and Jerry Reed, in addition to much, much more!
This is an electric and acoustic guitar masterclass for the Academy of Music and Sound in Exeter, a private masterclass, it should be great fun!
I will be performing at the Pendle Guitar Festival on 2nd June – come along and say hello, it’ll be a great show!
The venue is the Ace Centre in Lancashire, 10.00am – 4.00pm, £5 on the door, Tel: Box Office 01282 661080
I’m excited to say that my Country Guitar DVD and Magazine has now hit the shelves! Published by Guitar Techniques, this is a 40 minute DVD guitar lesson featuring professionally produced backing tracks, solos and exercises in the style of everyone from modern greats such as Brad Paisley and Vince Gill, all the way back to the early superstars of country, such as The Eagles and Johnny Cash’s sideman Luther Perkins. As you may know I am a big fan of country guitar and I am really pleased with the way this one has turned out.
The magazine and DVD are available to purchase in WH Smiths and all good newsagents!
